About grayson

Born in Camden and growing up working in his family’s restaurant, Grayson understood from an early age the struggles that working people face. This early exposure to economic disparities fueled his passion to fight for reform.

Grayson moved down to Portland in 2014, and started in healthcare roles, working with youth experiencing homelessness and with people struggling with Substance Use Disorder. He also worked as an EMT. At the time he rented an apartment on Munjoy Hill - something that’s increasingly unaffordable for many working people.

He quickly became involved in the campaigns for campaign finance reform and ranked choice voting. His commitment to making a difference led him to work nationally on Bernie Sanders 2016 campaign, where he gained valuable experience and insight into large-scale political organizing.

In 2020, amidst the challenges of the pandemic, Grayson ran for and won a seat in the state legislature, to represent off-Peninsula Portlanders in Augusta. During his time in the House, he has been a strong advocate for housing and criminal justice reform, working to create fairer and more equitable policies.

Grayson is a former EMT, and currently a theater tech at Merrill Auditorium alongside IATSE Local 114. He is also a seasonal sea kayaking guide in Casco Bay. He’s a homeowner in Portland’s Nason’s Corner Neighborhood.
